H. Douglas Woodford, M.D.
Dr. Woodford received his medical education and completed his internship and residency at the University of Tennessee-College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. He has been in private practice in Florence, AL since 1985. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In 2009, Dr. Woodford began focusing more on his interests in bio-identical hormone therapy for both women and men. In 2012, he opened Full Life Wellness Center where he focuses on pellet hormone therapy, nutrition, and other integrative approaches to health and wellness. He lectures on hormone replacement therapy, nutritional strategies for healthy aging, and holistic pasture management for the production of grass fed beef.
In 2013, he started Bluewater Creek Farm with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. The farm’s mission is to provide nutrient dense, clean food to the local community while also educating people about how food production techniques impact human health.
M. Tyler Melson, D.O.
Dr. Melson obtained his undergraduate degree in business management at the University of Alabama Birmingham in 2008. He then moved back to Florence where he completed pre-med classes at the University of North Alabama. Dr. Melson earned his doctorate at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Atlanta, Ga. He then completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tn.
While in residency, Dr. Melson began moonlighting in the emergency department. He continues to work in the emergency department and urgent care setting. While he enjoys providing care during acute illness, he also has a passion for preventative and functional medicine. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 10, Dr. Melson quickly learned the importance of diet, exercise, and optimizing health in prevention and management of chronic disease.
Dr. Melson resides in Florence with his wife and 5 children. He enjoys spending time with his family, church activities, hunting, hiking, exercising, gardening, cycling, and traveling.
Emily Russell DNP, FNP-C
Emily Russell DNP, FNP-C earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in 2010 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2016. In May 2019, Dr. Russell graduated with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, providing her with the highest degree of nursing-practive in the field of nursing. She has nine years of nursing experience, three of which have been as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner in primary care. For five years she worked as a charge nurse in out-patient dialysis caring for end-stage renal disease patients and was certified as a dialysis adequacy manager and fluid manager. Dr. Russell is passionate about utilizing evidence based practice in patient education and disease prevention. Her scholarly project in her doctoral program was based in health care quality improvement and focused on improving medication reconciliation practices. Dr. Russell also has an interest in developing the future of nursing through assisting in the education and practice of future nurses. Dr. Russell strongly believes in inter-professional collaboration to provide comprehensive patient care and improve patient outcomes.
Danielle Elliott, MSN, CRNP
Danielle received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of North Alabama in 1987. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1991 and her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner at The University of Alabama Huntsville in 1994. She has been working as a Nurse Practitioner since 1994.
Her experience includes adult cardiovascular health, women’s health, and functional medicine. She came to practice at Full Life Wellness Center in 2013. In 2015, Danielle began her training in functional medicine, which is a patient-centered approach to get to the root cause of disease and promote optimal functioning of the body. In 2017, she became certified in The Bredesen Protocol to Reverse Cognitive Decline (ReCODE). Danielle specializes in helping individuals with thyroid dysfunction, blood sugar dysregulation, hormone imbalance, inflammation, and cognitive issues.
She has a husband, 3 kids, and 5 grandchildren. She enjoys running, reading, nutrition, and cooking.
Liz W. Davis, MSN, CRNP, NTP
Liz completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing in 2007 and worked in critical care and post-anesthesia units in large hospitals for 5 years. Struggling with a chronic illness of her own led her to search for a more natural, holistic way to support health and get to the root causes of disease.
In June of 2014 she completed a holistic, functional nutrition certification and is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) by the Nutritional Therapy Association. At Full Life, she works with patients to improve nutrition, digestion, blood sugar regulation, and inflammation balance. In August of 2018 she completed her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at UAB and is currently accepting new patients. Liz focuses on helping individuals (ages 14 and under) with hormone balancing, thyroid management, metabolic health, chronic inflammation, and other related conditions.
She and her husband, Collins, run a sustainable, local farm, Bluewater Creek Farm. They have 2 daughters and enjoy hiking, biking, cooking, and spending time together as a family.
Russell Bien, MSN, CRNP
Russell will be offering primary care including but not limited to DOT physicals, acute illness (colds, flu, etc.), medical weight loss, health coaching, preventative, and chronic illness management (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.). More information about Russell coming soon.
Ashley B. Haselton, BS, ERYT-200, NTC
Ashley completed her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Alabama in 2005. She worked a corporate job for many years before realizing she wanted to pursue a career that helped bring healing to people on many levels. Her inspiration and passion for holistic health began in 2006 when she started seeking alternative avenues of addressing her own chronic health issues.
In June 2012, Ashley completed a 200-hr yoga teacher training. Since 2012, she has taught thousands of students in both public classes and private lessons, in local businesses, led yoga retreats and co-leads 200-hour yoga teacher trainings at Shoals Yoga in Florence, AL.
In June 2018, she completed a holistic, functional nutrition certification and is a certified Nutritional Therapy Consultant (NTC) by the Nutritional Therapy Association. At Full Life, she offers Wellness Consultations to help identify nutritional and system imbalances, while supporting, strengthening and balancing the foundations of health. She works with patients to improve nutrition, digestion, blood sugar regulation, and inflammation balance.
She resides in Florence, Alabama with her husband, Josh (who also has a love and passion for holistic nutrition and healthy living) and Jaco (their 9 year old lab). She enjoys biking, yoga, cooking, hiking, working out, meditation, farmer’s markets, quaint coffee shops, foreign traveling, gardening, and backpacking.
